Nebraska Gasoline and Diesel Prices

The Energy Information Administration expects gasoline prices to dip below year-ago levels by the end of the driving season. The traditional driving season will end with the Labor Day weekend so gasoline prices are expected to decine significantly over the next few weeks, assuming no major events occur to alter their path.

For the week of August 14, Nebraska's average gasoline price fell five cents per gallon from the previous week to $3.05, which was 48 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Weekly average prices in surveyed cities ranged from $2.98 in Grand Island to $3.13 in North Platte. As of August 11, the Midwest gasoline stock level had fallen farther below the normal range with 47.7 million barrels.

Nebraska's average diesel price increased four cents to $3.35 per gallon. According to the weekly price report, this week's state average was 78 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Weekly averages in the surveyed cities ranged from $3.29 in Norfolk to $3.35 in Kearney and North Platte. On the supply side, the Midwest distillate fuel inventory level was below the normal range with 20.8 million barrels of diesel fuel as of August 11.

Regular unleaded gasoline is regular unleaded motor gasoline with an 87 to 88 octane. Diesel fuel is fuel used for internal combustion in diesel engines.
