For the week of July 3, Nebraska's average gasoline price increased nine cents per gallon from the previous week to $2.92, which was 69 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Weekly average prices in surveyed cities ranged from $2.83 in Kearney to $3.00 in Grand Island. Both Grand Island and North Platte had average prices of $3.00 and above on three days, but prices in North Platte fell on Thursday and Friday, which pulled down North Platte's weekly average. As of June 30, the Midwest gasoline stock level was at the bottom boundary of the normal range with 51.3 million barrels.
Nebraska's average diesel price rose ten cents to $3.02 per gallon. This week was the first week since last October to see an average price of $3.00 per gallon. According to the weekly price report, this week's state average was 66 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Weekly averages in the surveyed cities ranged from $2.95 in Norfolk to $3.07 in Lincoln. On the supply side, the Midwest distillate fuel inventory level was below the normal range with 21.7 million barrels of diesel fuel as of June 30.
Regular unleaded gasoline is regular unleaded motor gasoline with an 87 to 88 octane. Diesel fuel is fuel used for internal combustion in diesel engines.
