Nebraska Gasoline and Diesel Prices
The Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of the summer driving season. The current forecast from the Energy Information Administration predicts the the national a verage retail price of regular gasoline will remain above $2.60 per gallon throughout the summer.
For the week of May 22, Nebraska's average gasoline price dropped eight cents per gallon from the previous week to $2.79, which was 70 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Weekly average prices in surveyed cities ranged from $2.74 in Norfolk to $2.85 in Kearney. As of May 19, the Midwest gasoline stock level was in the normal range with 50.6 million barrels.
Nebraska's average diesel price decreased four cents to $2.89 per gallon. According to the weekly price report, this week's state average was 71 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Weekly averages in the surveyed cities ranged from $2.80 in Norfolk to $2.92 in Kearney. On the supply side, the Midwest distillate fuel inventory level was below the normal range with 20.5 million barrels of diesel fuel as of May 19.
Regular unleaded gasoline is regular unleaded motor gasoline with an 87 to 88 octane. Diesel fuel is fuel used for internal combustion in diesel engines.
