For the week of May 15, Nebraska's average gasoline price rose five cents per gallon from the previous week to $2.87, which was 77 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Weekly average prices in surveyed cities ranged from $2.81 in Norfolk to $2.93 in Kearney and Lincoln. As of May 12, the Midwest gasoline stock level was in the normal range with 50.8 million barrels.
Nebraska's average diesel price increased two cents to $2.93 per gallon. According to the weekly price report, this week's state average was 72 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Weekly averages in the surveyed cities ranged from $2.86 in Norfolk to $2.97 in Kearney. On the supply side, the Midwest distillate fuel inventory level fell farther below the normal range with 19.6 million barrels of diesel fuel as of May 12.
Regular unleaded gasoline is regular unleaded motor gasoline with an 87 to 88 octane. Diesel fuel is fuel used for internal combustion in diesel engines.
