Nebraska's retail gasoline price had no change from last week remaining at $2.27, which was 37 cents higher than the price at this time last year. Metro prices ranged from $2.25 in Kearney, Norfolk, and Omaha to $2.33 in North Platte. Recent refinery problems could mean higher prices in the next few weeks, but barring any additional major petroleum infrastructure problems, a price spike would be unlikely. While prices were mixed across the nation, the Midwest Region had the largest regional increase of 2 cents. As of July 29, the Midwest gasoline stock level was in the normal range with 50.6 million barrels.
Nebraska's diesel average had no change from last week remaining at $2.36 per gallon. Metro prices ranged from $2.32 in Columbus and Norfolk to $2.36 in Kearney and Omaha. According to the weekly price report, this week's state average was 56 cents higher than the price at this time last year. On the supply side, the Midwest distillate fuel inventory level was above the normal range with 24.4 million barrels as of July 29. Although inventory levels are good, strong refining margins will encourage a few more weeks of building storage.
