Nebraska has the second largest ethanol production capacity in the country, based on the latest federal figures. As of January 2007, Nebraska has the capacity to produce 1,345.5 million gallons of ethanol, which is 11.5 percent of the nation's capacity of 11.7 billion gallons. Iowa has the largest production capacity (3,236.5 million gallons which is 27.6 percent of the nation's total), and Wyoming has the smallest production capacity (5 million gallons).
