Nebraska has the second largest ethanol production capacity in the country, based on the latest federal figures. As of November 2006, Nebraska has the capacity to produce 1,211.5 million gallons of ethanol, which is 14 percent of the nation's capacity of 9 billion gallons. Iowa has the largest production capacity (2,481.5 million gallons which is 28 percent of the nation's total), and Wyoming has the smallest production capacity (5 million gallons).
