State Energy Program In Nebraska
At the national level, the
State
Energy Program (SEP) provides grants to states and directs
funding to state energy offices from the Office of
Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) in the
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
State's use grants to address their energy priorities and use the
program funding to deploy emerging renewable energy and energy efficiency
technologies.
The State Energy Program in Nebraska embodies the spirit
of Nebraska. Each year, the U.S. Department of Energy awards a federal
grant to the Nebraska Energy Office, in an amount established by a
national formula to provide information and financing to help address
the state's energy issues.
Program Activities
Nebraska's federal SEP funds, combined with the required annual match of state
funds, support a wide array of activities, which include:
- administration, program planning, project and financial management,
monitoring, compliance and reporting;
- energy assurance planning, which includes emergency preparedness and
energy shortage management;
- public information activities, such as the agency's:
- Annual Report, as well as the Annual Report Archive
- The Nebraska Energy Quarterly, an electronic newsletter and its archive
- Nebraska Energy Statistics; and
- promote national information sources --
- Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
- Weatherization and Intergovernmental Programs
- State Energy Program
- financing energy efficiency improvements such as the Dollar and
Energy Saving Loans;
- residential energy efficiency, which includes supporting the training on
the Nebraska Energy Code; and
- administration and management of SEP Special Projects in Nebraska
