Flood Emergency Response...

Flood Assistance Available from the Nebraska Energy Office

In light of the historic flooding and devastation our communities have experienced, the Nebraska Energy Office (NEO) is modifying usual operations to provide assistance to those impacted by floods. Visit the NEO Flood Assistance webpage for details.

The Nebraska Energy Office, in conjunction with Nebraska lending institutions, is offering under the Dollar and Energy Saving Loans Program, 1% loans* for eligible projects to assist those impacted by the flooding to repair their homes, provided the home has not been condemned.

(*subject to lender approval)

Project loan applications need to be submitted to your Nebraska based lender and the Nebraska Energy Office prior to installation for verification of compliance with program requirements.

The following projects are allowed to be submitted for emergency loans:

  • Appliance replacement
  • Heating, cooling, and water heater replacement
  • Doors, windows and insulation

Provided all of the information submitted is complete, every effort will be made to process emergency loan applications within 48 hours.

This program will end on August 1, 2019.

Weatherization Assistance for Low Income Households

To receive free weatherization services for your home, your income must fall below 200% of the federal poverty level, which is revised annually.

Households with persons receiving either ADC (Aid to Dependent Children) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are automatically eligible for free weatherization. The Weatherization Program is waiving restrictions to homes damaged due to flooding that have previously been weatherized.

Eight service providers across Nebraska provide free weatherization services to local communities. These Regional Service Providers are responsible for establishing eligibility, performing an energy audit on the residence and scheduling the weatherization work.

Visit the Weatherization Program service provider map to find local Service Providers in your area. Please be patient if you are put on a waiting list.
