Katie is from a small town named, Ong, in south central Nebraska. She graduated from Shickley High School. After High School Katie attended Southeast Community College in Lincoln, NE where she worked towards an Associate’s Degree in Office Professional. Katie started working at the Energy Office as a temporary Weatherization Program Staff Assistant when she was close to finishing her degree.

Katie quickly learned the operations of the Weatherization Assistance Program and how it benefited hundreds of low income families every year. "I loved working with a program that was helping make a difference in people lives", Katie said. After working for two years in Weatherization she took a permanent job in the billing department at Fillmore County Hospital near Ong. Katie enjoyed working in her hometown near parents and friends, but missed being in Lincoln.

In October, 2016, the opportunity came to return to the Energy Office as a full-time Fiscal Compliance Analyst and she took it. Katie said, "The Energy Office has been like a family and I couldn’t be happier to be back!" Katie is also working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Doane College and expects to Graduate in May 2018. Besides attending classes and work, she enjoys spoiling her black lab, Harper and spending time with family and friends. The Energy Office is pleased to have Katie with us full-time. Welcome Katie!
