Nebraska's
Petroleum Consumption
by Sector

In 2021, the state's petroleum consumption was 46,347 thousand barrels (46.3 million barrels), a 4.0–percent increase from 44,571 thousand barrels (44.6 million barrels) in 2020. The transportation sector was responsible for over three–quarters (78.9 percent) of the consumption, with the industrial, residential, commercial, and electric power sectors consuming the remaining 15.1 percent, 3.5 percent, 2.2 percent, and 0.29 percent, respectively.
