- Big Ox Energy, in South Sioux City, takes organic waste from industrial plants and turns it into methane. The company's technology includes an anaerobic digestion process that extracts organic waste nutrients to create the methane. The plant's nameplate capacity is 1.5 billion Btu per day. It is planned that the fuel will be sold into a natural gas pipeline adjacent to the facility for customer use.
