Nebraska has the third largest ethanol production capacity in the country, based on the latest federal figures. As of November 2005, Nebraska has the capacity to produce 557.5 million gallons of ethanol, which is 10 percent of the nation's capacity of 5.4 billion gallons. Iowa has the largest production capacity (1,649.5 million gallons which is 31 percent of the nation's total), and Georgia has the smallest production capacity (0.4 million gallons).
