In 2008, the state had 581,808 natural gas consumers supplied by 24 companies. Eight of the
companies were investor-owned, and 16 companies were consumer-owned. Nearly 60 percent of
Nebraska's customers were supplied by investor-owned companies, and 40 percent were supplied by
consumer-owned companies.
