Effective July 1, 2019 the Nebraska Energy Office (NEO) merged with the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to become the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (DEE).

As we move through the remainder of 2019 into 2020, the websites from both the Nebraska Energy Office and the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, will be merged into the new Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy website.

The newly merged Department of Environment & Energy website address is dee.ne.gov

The Energy & Assistance Division website is neo.ne.gov

The website merger will take considerable time to complete. Thank you for your patience during this transition period.

Energy Codes

LB 405, which updates the Nebraska Energy Code from the 2009 IECC to the 2018 IECC and ASHRAE 90.1-2016, was passed by the state's Unicameral Legislature on May 2, 2019 and signed by the Governor on May 8, 2019.

The 2018 IECC code goes into effective July 1, 2020.

State Energy Program

The State Energy Program awards project funds to state energy offices through an annual competitive solicitation process.

HERS Ratings

A Home Energy Rating, completed by a Certified Home Energy Rater, is a comprehensive evaluation of the efficiency of a home which is not specifically related to the occupants or the structure alone.
